How Service Part Planning Differs
Service parts planning can be one of the most difficult projects to tackle. First and foremost its important that Supply Analysis was able to staff this project with consultants deep experience in service parts planning. Software for this area is still under-marketed leaving many companies to get by with inappropriate finished goods planning systems or heavily manually adjusted ERP solutions also designed for a finished goods business. We generally do not recommend this approach as service parts networks are even more difficult than finished goods networks to manage.
Service Parts Projects
In our projects we not only guide our client through a software selection but also developed service levels for each location in their service parts network. We are then able to work backwards from their service parts budget number to properly allocate this budget across the service parts network in an optimal manner. We plan to continue to focus on service parts planning projects due to the fact that this one in particular returned excellent financial benefits to our client.
